PARENT CORNER
STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TESTING
This week we begin SAT 10 Testing. We will test during the mornings daily. Please be sure your child is well rested and has a nutritious breakfast. We will begin promptly at 8:00 AM, so it is important to be on time during this week. We will have worship in the afternoon along with our normal subjects. OTHER THAN MONDAY, THERE WILL BE NO PARENT HELPERS THIS WEEK. Thank you!
YOUNG AUTHOR STORIES
Writing with your children has been such a joy this year! They are becoming wonderful wordsmiths of descriptive, detailed sensory language in their story writing. I am proud that they are writing competently, viewing reflectively, and visually expressing their ideas as well.
Third grade students wrote creative fictional narratives for their Young Author Story Contest this year. They all expressed such imagination and did a wonderful job! Three students’ stories were selected and judged by a panel of A.P. English High School students. Congratulations to the students with special recognition:
1st Place – Summer Foshee
2nd Place – Macie Gleason
3rd Place – Olivia Dansby
The first, second, and third places winners will receive a published copy of their story. Our school library and class library will also receive a published copy. The first place winner will have copies of their story available for purchase at an “Autograph Signing” Table during Open House Night. You will also see all of our third grade stories on students’ desks at Open House Night. Congratulations to everyone for an excellent effort!
LANGUAGE ARTS
The fourth quarter of third grade we will focus on learning to write friendly, personal letters. Along with a continuing study grammar skills in nouns, adjectives, pronouns, and adverbs, students will study about including all 5 parts of a letter: heading, greeting, body , closing, and signature. As they learn to write personal letters, they will be graded on maintaining their focus, organizing ideas, writing complete sentences, using correct grammar, indentation, capitalization, and punctuation.
FINE ARTS FESTIVAL AND CLASSROOM OPEN HOUSE
Come and join us for a fabulous evening of Fine Arts, Music, and Open House on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 P.M. We will begin in our classroom and then head out to the Chapel of People’s Church for the Fine Arts Festival.

SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECTS
Partners have been assigned to work on our Fresno History Presentation Boards for Open House. Students have chosen the color of their presentation board from the selection provided at school. Students may plan together what type of border trim they would like to purchase. GW School Supply House on Blackstone and Barstow or Belmont and Clovis have excellent choices of bright and colorful choices. Please bring your borders in by Friday, April 4. Thank you for your help in coordinating with your project partner.
As part of “Fresno History Day” third graders will dress up as Fresno pioneers for the square dancing performance planned by Mrs. Ainley, our music teacher OPEN HOUSE EVENING. Students may come dressed in any of the following ways: Yokut Native American Indian, fur trapper, gold miner, Fresno pioneer, cowboy, or cowgirl. Students may want to start planning their attire for the May 6th ev
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER
Just a reminder that on-line book orders are due on Monday, March 31. I will be placing the order at 5:00 PM and your orders should be here before Easter vacation. We will have one more Scholastic Book Club order in April before the end of school.
EASTER CELEBRATION
We will have a celebration on Friday, April 11th at 1:20 PM. Many of you signed up to help with the Easter party at Back To School Night. Please feel free to contact Patty Steele and Emily Phillips, our Head Room Mothers, if you would like to assist with a party for our class next month.
TALENT SHOW
We are once again looking forward to an outstanding Talent Show on Friday, April 25. Please be on the look out for the Talent Show Sign-Up for if you are interested. We would love to see many of our third grade Fraser’s Praisers participate in this popular evening event where students showcase the talents God has given our students.
END OF THE YEAR CONVOCATION
As the year draws to a close, we would like to gather as a family to celebrate all that God has done for us. Thursday, May 1st is the National Day of Prayer and our School Community Council believes that would be the perfect day to come together as an entire school. All of you (parents, grandparents, family, and friends) are invited to join the teachers, students, administration, and staff as we gather together for this ending convocation held in the Peoples’s Church sanctuary. It is a time of celebration, worship, and prayer as we end our year with thanksgiving and praise.
The service begins at 8:00 AM and will end by 8:30 AM. All students K-12 are to report directly to the sanctuary by 7:55 AM. Every class will be designated with a sign and balloons, making it easy to locate your child’s class. It is exactly the same as our opening convocation seating arrangement. You are welcome to sit with your child in their designated area or if you have more than one student attending Fresno Christian, choose where you would like to sit. I look forward to seeing all of you at this closing event as we end our year acknowledging God’s hand upon us through prayer, worship, and heartfelt celebration.
