FCS Update 3-23-2020
Dear FCS Families,
Thank you for your patience as our teachers rapidly assimilate to a new teaching platform. Your response has been overwhelmingly positive and we are grateful for this community!
Please refer to last Friday’s email, also posted on the front page of the website. Very little has changed except new Webex schedules which are at the end of this email and also will be posted online. Here is the latest from staff and teachers:
Elementary Student Work:
Pick up and drop off will take place in the PC GYM per the schedule (in last Friday’s email and on website) that has been carefully made to minimize contact. The following steps have also been put in place to follow health department guidelines:
-
The rooms, gyms, all surfaces, equipment, etc. have been sanitized on a regular basis with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
-
Schoolwork being turned in can be placed in a box at your grade-level table.
-
Schoolwork being picked up will be spread out so the only packet you touch is your child’s.
-
We would ask that, as much as possible, only one parent or older child drop off and pick up schoolwork.
Secondary Student Work:
-
New schedules are linked below to mitigate duplicate class times

**IMPORTANT** Update Re: COVID-19
March 13, 2020
Good Afternoon,
I want to start by thanking all of our community that have sent emails/texts or have taken the time to let us know that you are praying for us. It means a lot, and please know that we take the stewardship of your children seriously.
Yesterday, FCS Administration had a meeting with all staff regarding the COVID-19 virus. In that meeting, we covered the following topics:
- Safety and security of our students, staff, and community
- Updates from the California Department of Public Health, State of California, Office of Fresno County Superintendent, Association of Christian Schools International and other agencies
- Plans that Fresno Christian Schools has prepared if/when the situation in our community develops further
Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, we will be transitioning to an alternative learning model to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and community. Please do not send your child to school.
- FCS is following ALL guidelines presented by the State of California and the Fresno County Office of Public Health.
- We are finalizing plans for alternative learning scenarios for all grades.
- At this time, our plan is to resume on-campus classes on Monday, April 13.
- Additional communication will be sent early next week.
These are difficult and challenging times for our community. Our students are navigating these times, along with us. I would like to invite you to talk with your children about the safest and best practices. Many of our children are filled with unknowns and anxiety. We may not have all the answers, but we can talk to them about trusting God for wisdom and peace.
Lastly, please know that we are praying for you and your families. As decisions are being made, we will continue to communicate with you. If you have any questions, email info@fresnochristian.com.
Yours in Christ,
Jeremy L. Brown
Superintendent
Athletics Update Re: COVID-19
March 13, 2020
ATHLETIC INFORMATION
Good Afternoon FCS Parents,
As many of you have heard, districts and organizations have made health and safety decisions in the last 48 hours regarding athletic games and practices. The following events have unfolded:
Public school districts, athletic leagues and private schools have made the decision to pause all scheduled games until at least 4/13. This includes today’s championship baseball game for our MS boys.
Our officiating agency, SJVOA, has canceled all games until 04/13
MAXPREPS, Scorebook live, athletic.net and other school schedules may not be up to date at this time.
FC’s athletic calendar and sports schedules will be updated as soon as possible.
Your coach will keep you up to date regarding the rescheduling or cancellation of games after 4/13. As these events unfold, the calendar and schedules online will be updated.
In summary, ALL FCS games for all sports have been canceled or postponed till further notice. Practices will continue at coaches’ and FCS administrative discretion. Fresno Unified and Clovis Unified are encouraging all practices to continue until further notice. For high school sports, check with your coach for an updated practice schedule. For elementary and middle school sports, check with Darbee Whipple.
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s health and safety, we will honor your decision to allow your child to participate or not. Please know that our coaches are being instructed to take precautionary steps to keep your child safe.
Thank you,
FCS Elementary and Secondary Athletics
Auction To Be Canceled/Postponed
March 12, 2020
Dear FCS Community,
In light of the ongoing developments around COVID-19 health concerns, a situation that is changing by the hour, FCS Administration has determined the best course of action is to cancel/postpone this weekend’s Auction.
The benefit of exercising caution outweighs any financial benefit to the school as opportunities for potential exposure for our most vulnerable populations need to be avoided.
Stay tuned for details to follow regarding auction items, donation opportunities, and the potential rescheduling of this event.
At this time, school is considered an essential gathering and will remain in session, but updated safety steps are in progress, including postponing non-essential gatherings and staggering lunch and break times.
We will continue to operate based upon guidance from the Fresno County Department of Public Health, the California Department of Education, and the Fresno County Office of Education, and will update frequently as the situation continues to be very fluid and fast-moving.
Jeremy L. Brown
Superintendent
