MATH
We will spending the next few weeks learning to add and subtract greater numbers. We will also round numbers to estimate sums and differences. You can expect to see work that provides practice in adding and subtracting numbers with up to four digits, using regrouping (or borrowing). We will also learn to subtract across zeros. During Chapter 3 students should work diligently to memorize basic addition and subtraction facts.
SOCIAL STUDIES
This week we complete Chapter 1 ending with California’s regions. We move on to Chapter 2 People and Their Environment. We will study about our many natural resources, our changing environment, and caring for our resources.
SCIENCE
In science we continue our study of animal habitats. We have visited the deciduous forests, coniferous forests, and the rain forest while exploring God’s creatures adapting to their environment. This week we will discover some of the driest regions on Earth in the desert habitat. We will learn how animals and plants adapt to little rainfall and extremes in temperature. We will learn how animals find food, water, and shelter. We will discover how rainfall and differences in temperature between day and night affect life in the desert.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
This year we will again be participating in the Box Tops for Education fundraiser. Each Box Top collected is worth cash for our school. As an incentive we will be having a class contest. The class bringing in the most Box Tops at the end of this promotion will receive a “prize”. We will post class totals monthly in the Office window and on our Campus News located on our website: fresnochristian.com.
Please hand in your trimmed Box Tops in a Ziploc bag or envelope, labeled with your child’s/teacher’s name and the amount of Box Tops to your teacher or school office.
You can find a list of Box Tops online at: www.boxtops4education.com.
Thank you for your support.
